“The best education does not happen at a desk, but rather engaged in everyday living- hands on, exploring, in active relationship with life.”

-Vince Gowman-

Who are we?

Little Adventurers is a home-based daycare & learning center licensed by the Illinois Department of Child & Family Services for children ages infant-5 years old. We provide child-centered, play-based and nature-inspired learning opportunities based on principles of Montessori and Waldorf education. We are conveniently located right across from Idlewood Park and Grundy Elementary School. We provide almost half an acre to explore along with a spacious playroom and dining area for the children.

What can I expect?

When your child comes to Little Adventurers, they should be prepared to spend a lot of time outside! Children today need more opportunities to learn from and explore nature in order to grow & appreciate all we have around us! When the weather isn't safe or we need a break from being outside, we will spend time indoors playing creatively, making open-ended crafts, cooking and baking, reading stories, and so much more!

What will my child learn?

Children at this stage learn the most from play-based and unstructured learning. Rather than a strict preschool schedule, your child will have various learning materials and toys available for them to explore in a supported environment. Check out the links below for examples of some of the learning resources we will be using throughout the year.
